Virtual Cub Scouts Day Camp - Beneath the Sea

Posted on Jun 11 2020 - 8:05pm

There was just a meeting with the council talking about the virtual cub scout day camp.  While this is new uncharted territory it looks like they are putting together a really fun plan.  There will be a "live" virtual opening and closing of the camp along with self paced or small group activities with videos to watch.  It also includes a bunch of materials for activities.  A little boat to build, backpack to color, food items for fake sushi as well as a t-shirt and patch.  It looks to be quite fun and if get more details I will add them.  Here is the official blurb:

Golden Gate Area Council serves youth in six Bay Area counties.  Many dedicated adult volunteers provide the skills and leadership needed to deliver Scouting’s message. Our goal is to provide a premier experience in developing our youth into the leaders of tomorrow.

Summer activities

Posted on Jun 1 2020 - 12:51pm

We are working on setting up summer activities we can do with the cub scouts while maintaining distancing and safety as the restrictions lighten up, such as smaller hikes or bike rides.  These will likely be done as in family groups in lieu of the standard cub scout buddy system.  If anyone has a suggestion of a favorite place to hike that is local or other idea for activities please let any of the leaders know or email
